By Thomas Kelly
On these dawns
That melt away as quick as a snow petal
Drifting away from the sky into our hands.
Coating the lines, soaking them in stain,
Ready to be refinished for the coming days.
Where footsteps conquer worlds
And heartbeats flutter in celebration.
Like that old opiate dream, fantasized by the dreamer
Locked and chained away deep inside their vault,
Their own cataclysms.
Surely it’s enough, a pedestal on its own is all that’s needed.
The mind will fill in the gaps, and put what belongs there,
So it may be lauded over, and held so dearly
As to never let it free.
